Responsibilities

• Utilized as an integral part of basic training for special agent and Uniformed Division officer trainees.
• Aid in providing realistic situations in which students and other law enforcement entities can apply investigative and law enforcement skills.
• Adjust to a variety of outcomes and react appropriately to the way in which a situation is handled by students.
• Improvise within the scenario, following instructor’s direction and training objectives.
• Participate in surveillance, arrest situations, witness interviews, subject interrogations, blank-firing weapon exercises, and canine scenarios.

Qualifications

• A combination of formal education above the high school level and several years of work experience.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus.
• Speak English at the eighth-grade level or above.
• Meet USSS security requirements and pass a background check and drug screening.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service orientation, teamwork, and safety promotion.
• Be organized and detail-oriented.
• Have a valid state-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and prior driving experience.
• Pass a driver safety skills test.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedures.
• Flexibility and availability to assist in creating a weekly schedule of shifts and scenarios.

Physical Demands

• Be able to stand and walk for a minimum of 60-minute intervals.
• Carry up to 20 pounds of training props during this timeframe.
• Be able to run up to 100 yards.
• Be capable of being handcuffed and searched in a variety of positions.
