About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to place and secure steel bars or mesh in concrete forms to reinforce concrete for building projects. The role involves using a variety of tools, including fasteners, rod-bending machines, blowtorches, and hand tools. The incumbent may be required to work different shifts and long hours (8-12 hours), including weekends and extra hours as needed based on production demands.

Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads rebar bundles to or from trucks.
  • Carries single or multiple reinforcing bars in 10, 20, or 40-feet lengths alone or as part of a lifting team.
  • Deposits or places rebar pieces in their final destination as instructed.
  • Ties pieces of reinforcing bar together using wire and pliers.
  • Uses paint to mark reinforcing bars for cutting or tying.
  • Ties reinforcing bars in-place horizontally for paving or floors, or vertically for columns and walls.
  • Maintains equipment and tools to ensure long-lasting use.
  • Maintains confidentiality by not disclosing proprietary or trade secret information belonging to the Company.
  • Responsible for personal safety and the safety of co-workers and others encountered on the job.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work if an unsafe condition or situation is observed or anticipated.
  • Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Reports all violations of laws, regulations, or Company policies promptly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by immediate supervision, such as certification training, safety training, and procedure reviews.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience with finishing concrete structures and pier foundations is preferred.
  • One year of experience with steel-performed forming systems and pouring concrete is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Ability to work in constantly changing weather and site conditions.
  • Ability to lift, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach to perform everyday job tasks.
  • Must observe and fulfill all safety responsibilities and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Must remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as directed by the Safety Representative or management personnel.
  • Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner during emergencies.

Schedule

Work shifts may vary and include long hours (8-12 hours) as needed. Weekend work and extra hours occur based on production needs and at the Crew Supervisor’s discretion.
