About the role

As a Perishable Representative, you are responsible for providing a well-stocked and well-maintained department while providing superior customer service. You will prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis, while maintaining all department and food safety / sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include providing superior customer service, taking orders from customers, answering customer questions, and assisting with selections. Additionally, you will prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product, slice, package, label, and rotate products, and scan items on Telxon for production.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

Depending on the department, additional responsibilities may include:

• Aguas: Peeling, cutting, and chopping fresh fruits and vegetables, preparing fresh specialty drinks and food products
• Floral: Designing floral arrangements, providing fresh quality products, designing and executing merchandising programs
• Market: Cutting, trimming, and preparing meat for service meat counter and self-service counter, ensuring proper product rotation and storage
• Produce: Stocking and rotating product to ensure freshness, assisting floral department when needed, communicating product knowledge to customers
• Seafood: Having knowledge of various fish and shellfish, weighing, pricing, and packaging selections, maintaining coolers and freezers

Qualifications

To be qualified for this role, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. You should also have customer service and communication skills, computer systems knowledge, and strong customer service skills.

• Age: 18+
• Education: HS Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
• Work Experience: Customer service and communication skills
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Computer systems knowledge (Telxon, ACR, label machine), strong customer service skills, communication and interpersonal skills, reading and writing skills, planning and organizing skills

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This role requires functioning in a fast-paced, retail environment, working with customers, and performing various physical tasks. You must be able to lift up to 90 lbs (or 50 lbs in the Seafood department) and manage in excess of this weight.
