About the organization
The League of Amazing Programmers is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) after-school institution teaching Java to kids in grades 5 through 12. Founded on the belief that computer programming is fundamental in today’s technical world, the League addresses the gap in public school computer science education. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects one million unfilled programming jobs in the U.S. by 2020, and the League prepares students for the Oracle Professional Certification Exam, giving them a competitive edge in college and careers.
The League specifically aims to reach more girls and underserved youth, ensuring children from all backgrounds gain the skills and education needed for the 21st-century workforce. Learning to code helps students develop critical thinking skills and self-confidence.
