About the Role

The Intelligent Sustainable Technology Division (ISTD) within the Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ATAS) is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant starting Spring 2027 to work on robotics and automation research projects. Potential project areas include:

• Machine learning and perception
• Planning and control of robotic manipulators and mobile robots
• Development of virtual and augmented reality interfaces
• Integration of computer vision and other sensing technologies

Candidates should be able to work in both team settings and independently. Tasks will include development and implementation of leading-edge algorithms, background research, programming, debugging, and testing.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) during working semesters
• 3.0 or higher GPA
• Commit to 20 hours of work per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Robot Operating System (ROS) experience
• PyTorch experience
• Experience in Behavior Cloning and/or Reinforcement Learning
• Familiarity with Linux and open-source tools
• Task/team leadership experience
• Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
• Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to non-technical personnel

Schedule

20 hours per week.
