About the role
As a Robotics Engineering volunteer, you will help shape the next generation of builders and problem-solvers. You’ll design beginner-friendly robotics curriculum, create slides and assignments, and guide students through hands-on projects involving drones, autonomous systems, precision movement, and gravity-based mechanics. You’ll also mentor students during MVP Week and Final Product Week, helping them transform ideas into functional prototypes and portfolio-ready demonstrations.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop curriculum for our Introduction to Robotics & Autonomous Systems course.
- Create course materials, including slides, assignments, lab activities, and project templates.
- Teach or support live sessions with demonstrations, walkthroughs, and Q&A.
- Mentor students as they build robotics-inspired MVPs (Week 6) and final products (Week 12).
- Provide feedback on design, logic, precision, physics, and autonomy concepts.
- Introduce students to real engineering principles, including:
- sensors & actuators
- gravity & motion
- precision control
- autonomous decision-making
- drone flight basics
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure curriculum quality and consistency.
- Support students during Demo Day, helping them present their robotics projects to stakeholders.
What You Bring
- Experience in robotics, drones, mechatronics, automation, or related fields.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi), robotics kits, or simulation tools.
- Able to explain engineering concepts in simple, engaging ways.
- A passion for teaching, mentoring, and empowering youth.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- (Bonus) Experience creating curriculum, slides, or technical documentation.
