AI Engineering Instructor & Curriculum Developer

About the role

As an AI Engineering volunteer, you will help students understand how intelligent systems are built — from data to models to real-world applications. You’ll design beginner-friendly curriculum, create slides and assignments, and guide students through hands-on projects involving machine learning, neural networks, and LLM-powered tools. You’ll also mentor students during MVP Week and Final Product Week, helping them turn ideas into functional AI prototypes.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop curriculum for our Introduction to AI Engineering course.
• Create course materials, including slides, assignments, coding labs, and project templates.
• Teach or support live sessions with demonstrations, walkthroughs, and Q&A.
• Mentor students as they build AI MVPs (Week 6) and final products (Week 12).
• Provide feedback on model design, data quality, evaluation, and ethical considerations.
• Introduce students to core AI concepts, including:
• machine learning fundamentals
• supervised vs. unsupervised learning
• neural networks & deep learning
• LLM systems & prompt engineering
• responsible AI practices
• Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure curriculum quality and consistency.
• Support students during Demo Day, helping them present their AI projects to stakeholders.

What You Bring

• Experience with machine learning, deep learning, or LLM systems.
• Familiarity with Python, NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Able to explain complex concepts in simple, engaging ways.
• A passion for teaching, mentoring, and supporting student growth.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• (Bonus) Experience creating curriculum, slides, or technical documentation.
