Robotics Engineer

About the role

John Deere is focused on providing enough food, fiber and infrastructure for a rapidly growing world, investing in people and technology to tackle global challenges. This position is based in Urbandale, IA and is onsite.

Responsibilities

• Work with other Deere units to commercialize perception solutions on platforms.
• Accelerate application opportunities that require a mix of image processing and machine learning.
• Focus on C++ software development for applications and integration of advanced algorithms into application software that runs on embedded hardware.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Skills

• Experience working with C++ or other object‑oriented languages.
• Experience with software product development through practical work, internships or academic experience.
• Experience demonstrating excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening, presentation).
• Experience developing Linux software applications.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Experience with MQTT, UDP, TCP/IP, CAN networking communication protocols.
• Experience applying image processing, OpenCV, Robotics Workbench, MATLAB Image Processing Toolbox, machine learning, Caffe, or TensorFlow.

Qualifications

• Experience programming in embedded C software.
• Experience or training with multi‑threaded systems.
• Experience with SCRUM/Agile software development methodologies.
• Experience with test‑driven development (TDD) and software test automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent related technology field.
• Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

$86,892.00 – $130,332.00 + benefits
