Robotics Application Engineer (Senior Level)
About the role
Inbolt builds computer vision solutions that give industrial robots the ability to adapt in real time to their environment, right where traditional automation hits its limits. Our systems are already running in production at major industrial companies, and we’re scaling fast: every new deployment needs to be faster, more robust, and more autonomous than the last. We’re looking for a Senior Robotics Application Engineer to take ownership of our most demanding deployments in the US: someone who has already seen what “it doesn’t work in production” actually means, knows why, and knows how to prevent it next time. This role is especially suited to robotics integrator profiles used to running complex projects end-to-end, at demanding industrial sites, with multiple stakeholders and real production constraints.
Responsibilities
- Own deployments end-to-end: from the first scoping call to a stable production rollout, including installation, integration, and validation, you’re accountable for the outcome, not just the execution.
- Be the senior client contact: lead strategic meetings, manage expectations, defuse tension when a deployment gets complicated, and build lasting trust with plant teams and decision‑makers.
- Design and improve deployment processes: identify what’s slowing down an installation or weakening a production rollout, and evolve our methods accordingly.
- Diagnose the hard cases: when an issue resists a first pass of analysis, you’re the one people turn to, structuring the investigation, escalating the right information to engineering, and proposing concrete fixes.
- Mentor and share knowledge: help junior engineers grow in the field, and spread integration best practices across the team.
- Travel regularly to customer sites, with full autonomy over managing your own schedule and priorities.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial robotics, systems integration, or customer deployment, ideally as a robotics integrator having run complex projects from A to Z.
- Strong command of programming industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, UR, or equivalent), including multi‑robot cells or non‑standard integrations.
- Strong Python skills, with a genuine focus on code quality, stability, and maintainability.
- Concrete experience managing client projects with multiple technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of computer vision fundamentals as applied to robotics.
- Real field experience: you’ve already managed a deployment that didn’t go as planned, and you can tell the story of how you turned it around.
Qualifications
- End‑to‑end ownership mindset: think in terms of the project, not the task; from kick‑off to handover, accountable for the outcome.
- Pragmatism and decisiveness: able to make fast calls on‑site with incomplete information, weighing risk and moving forward.
- Structured problem‑solving: diagnose complex failures by isolating possible causes and communicating progress clearly.
- High standards: consider a deployment done only when it’s stable and robust, not just “working on demo day.”
- Deep‑tech / manufacturing mindset: understand real production‑line constraints (throughput, safety, zero tolerance for downtime) and design solutions accordingly.
Skills
- Industrial robot programming (FANUC, ABB, UR, or equivalent).
- Multi‑robot cells and non‑standard integrations.
- Python development with focus on code quality, stability, maintainability.
- Computer vision fundamentals for robotics.
- Client project management with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Field deployment troubleshooting and process improvement.
