Roadway, Traffic Signals, And Lighting Trainee

About the role

Arrow Electric is seeking a Trainee to assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of roadway electrical infrastructure, including traffic signals, highway lighting, and underground systems. This entry-level position focuses on developing foundational construction and electrical skills while working under the direct supervision of experienced crew members. The role provides hands-on experience in a field environment, emphasizing safe work practices and familiarity with project standards and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of:
  • Traffic signal components (signal heads, poles, cabinets)
  • Roadway lighting systems (fixtures, poles, wiring)
  • Underground conduit systems and duct banks
• Pull boxes, handholes, and foundations
• Load, unload, and stage materials, tools, and equipment
• Assist with digging, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation
• Handle and organize materials safely and efficiently
• Follow direction from Technicians, Electricians, and Foremen

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
• No prior experience required; construction experience is a plus
• Willingness to learn and develop trade skills
