Roadway, Traffic and Drainage Designers and Engineers

About the role

AECOM’s Transportation business line partners with clients to build, modernize and expand transportation projects that carry communities into the future safely and reliably. We seek Roadway, Traffic and Drainage Designers and Engineers at all levels to work on alternative delivery projects, including mega-projects, throughout Maryland and Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Develop design packages for highway improvement projects
• Perform Roadway Design calculations including Superelevation, Stopping Sight Distance (SSD), Decision Sight Distance (DSD), Acceleration and Deceleration lanes
• Prepare all aspects of Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) design: Cross Sections, Typical Cross Sections, Traffic Control Plans, Profiles, Temporary Signing and Pavement Markings, Detour Routes
• Conduct storm drain design, cross culvert analysis and design, hydrology, ditch design, bridge deck drainage, temporary drainage, and stormwater quantity control
• Design signing/pavement markings and traffic signal systems

Qualifications

• Roadway, Traffic and Drainage CAD Designers: BS Degree or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience
• Junior Level Engineers: BS in Engineering + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency
• Mid-Level Engineers: BS in Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency
• Senior Level Engineers / Task Leads: BS in Engineering + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency

Preferred Qualifications: EIT Certification or PE License

Skills

• Design/Build or Alternative Delivery project experience
• Complex interstate highway design experience or interest
• Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and Open Roads
• Experience using the 2018 AASHTO Green Book
• Interstate design and complex interchange experience preferred
