Roadway Resident Engineer – Night Shift Help Build Illinois Infrastructure with The Will Group At The Will Group, we don’t just build projects — we build solutions that strengthen communities. We are looking for a Roadway Resident Engineer – Night Shift to join our growing Engineering team and support transportation infrastructure projects throughout Illinois. This is an opportunity for an civil engineer with roadway experience who enjoys being hands-on in the field, leading coordination efforts, solving construction challenges, and ensuring projects are delivered with quality and integrity. What You’ll DoAs the Resident Engineer, you will serve as the owner’s representative overseeing roadway construction activities, contractor coordination, project documentation, and compliance with IDOT standards. You will:Lead field oversight of roadway construction projects.Coordinate contractors, inspectors, municipalities, utilities, and stakeholders.Ensure construction activities meet plans, specifications, safety requirements, and quality expectations.Manage IDOT-required documentation and project records.Review schedules, pay estimates, change orders, and project deliverables.Resolve field issues through collaboration and sound engineering judgment. What You Bring3+ years of roadway construction inspection, construction engineering, or construction management experience.Experience with IDOT or transportation infrastructure projects.Knowledge of roadway construction methods, materials, and specifications.Strong communication and project coordination skills.Ability to work independently in a field environment. Preferred: IDOT certifications, EIT certification, Resident Engineer experience, or experience with electronic construction management systems. ScheduleThis position supports night shift construction operations and requires regular overnight work hours. Compensation$90,000 – $115,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and market factors.
