Roadway Engineer - Mid-Level

About the role

This position offers an opportunity to join a team dedicated to designing transportation and infrastructure projects that improve the world. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth of our practice in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of engineers on the planning and design of transportation projects including intersection and interchange design, new roadway alignments, roadway widenings, roundabouts, interstates, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
• Design horizontal and vertical alignments, develop roadway plans and profiles, evaluate roadside elements, maintain traffic design, prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and produce technical reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment through comity from another state
• 11-15 years of relevant job experience related to roadway engineering (experience with VDOT preferred)
• Effective communication skills orally and in writing at all levels of the organization
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience handling multiple assignments
• Knowledge of design software tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, and AutoCAD
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
