Roadway Design Engineer, EI

Your Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design including horizontal alignments, vertical alignments, 3D modeling and cross-sections, pavement design, and temporary traffic control plans, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare project documentation including Typical Section Packages, Pavement Design Package, Design Variations and Exceptions, Estimated Quantity Reports, and Project Meeting minutes.
  • Affiliate with Project Managers and Senior Engineers with roadway design task production and maintaining project documentation.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks including collection and analysis of data.
  • Perform routine calculations and participate in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Must possess Fundamentals of Engineering (EI) certification or ability to obtain within six months.
  • 0 - 4 years of transportation design experience.
  • Familiarity with NCDOT production procedures is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Bentley’s MicroStation and Open Roads Designer preferred.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
