The purpose of this job is to provide DOTD with well-trained, government certified herbicide applicators to be utilized throughout the state in the proper application of a variety of chemicals within a wide range of geographic landscapes in assigned parish(es) of Louisiana.

Job Duties and Other Information

  • Operate spray truck or other spray equipment (may have GPS navigation system) to maintain roadside vegetation along state highway
  • Responsible for measuring/mixing proper amounts of appropriate herbicides as needed
  • Operate power and hand tools in the removal of trees, tree branches and other vegetation that may be causing obstruction for motorists
  • May be required to perform other duties as necessary, including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities

Position-Specific Details

  • Appointment Type: Promotional or Probational
  • Required to obtain a Louisiana Class "A" CDL License and current Herbicide Equipment Applicator License issued by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture before being appointed to this position
  • Requires random drug testing
  • Required to work in all types of inclement weather and conditions
