About the Role

As a Roadside Service Tech Flatbed at AAA Northeast, you will provide safe and best-in-class roadside solutions for AAA members, ensuring positive member experiences while operating a tow or flatbed vehicle. You will respond to member requests within a given ETA, prioritize safety, and deliver services such as jump starts, flat tire replacement, and minor mechanical assistance to get members back on the road. If towing is required, you will transport vehicles to repair facilities or other requested destinations while promoting AAA products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Accept calls and respond to Dispatch or members with an estimated time of arrival (ETA).
  • Locate members, assess their emotional and technical needs, and provide reassurance and solutions.
  • Evaluate the safety of the scene to ensure safe service delivery for members and their vehicles.
  • Provide minor mechanical assistance (if trained and equipped) and towing services, diagnosing breakdowns and determining the best course of action.
  • Perform battery boosts, replace flat tires, and tow vehicles following Club policies, AAA towing manual guidelines, or manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain service vehicles and equipment in safe working order, including conducting safety checks and managing inventory.
  • Adhere to traffic laws, safety procedures, and professional standards to represent the AAA brand positively.
  • Operate in-vehicle MDC computers to update call information and collect revenue accurately through cash or credit card payments.
  • Promote AAA products and services, such as battery replacement, and assist members with travel arrangements (e.g., hotels, rental cars).
  • Work independently with minimal face-to-face contact and adapt to a variety of shifts to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Prevent damage and injury by securing vehicles properly and responding to changing dynamics while towing.
  • Perform duties under pressure, in varying traffic and weather conditions.
  • Complete other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Post-secondary training in automotive mechanics and familiarity with electrical troubleshooting.
  • Active and valid driver’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction.
  • DOT card required pre-hire and maintained within 1 year of employment.
  • Satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check during pre-hire screening and periodically during employment.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.75 per hour. Base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, shift differentials, and experience. Additional compensation includes:

  • Annual bonuses for eligible employees.
  • Monthly and/or quarterly incentives for certain roles.
  • Shift differentials:
    • $2.75 per hour for overnight shifts (10 PM - 6 AM).
    • $1.75 per hour for evening shifts (6 PM - 10 PM).
    • $1.00 per hour for weekend hours.
  • Differentials can be combined.

Schedule

  • Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
