Responsibilities

• Supervises day-to-day activities of operators to ensure compliance with operational requirements for safe bus operations, including corporate safety training processes and practices.
• Provides support, advice, and guidance to operators in responding to issues (e.g., customer complaints, bus/worker safety, time-off requests), assessing situations, and determining appropriate actions (e.g., additional training, counseling) to prevent future occurrences.
• Ensures a positive work environment for operators through coaching, mentoring, and non-safety-related training to promote high employee motivation, morale, and commitment to company values and customer service excellence.
• Monitors on-time performance.
• Prepares and submits required reports in a timely manner.
• Supervises compliance with company policies and processes; discusses policy breaches with the General Manager.
• Collects and audits employee DVIs.
• Evaluates the performance of direct-report personnel regularly according to company policy.
• Administers appropriate employee discipline as necessary.
• Exhibits the highest ethical standards and personal integrity; reports concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior to a supervisor or manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 5+ years of work experience required, with 3 years in the transit industry preferred; college education can substitute for up to 2 years of required work experience.
• Knowledge of the company, its service promise, policies, procedures, and practices to effectively manage operators, resolve issues in alignment with company goals, and promote the company as a leading bus transportation provider.
• Proven supervisory expertise and knowledge of related methods, practices, and techniques.
• Computer literacy, preferably in word processing and spreadsheets.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with well-developed written and verbal communication abilities.
• Basic math skills.
• Relationship-building and collaborative skills to support local decision-making, foster effective working relationships with stakeholders, and develop strategies to resolve issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to provide clear direction, coaching, and mentoring, and to promote a feedback-friendly environment.
• Well-developed multitasking, time management, and priority-setting skills to balance conflicting demands related to customer care and routing.
