Road Maintenance Worker - Road Department

About the role

This full-time position assists in the construction, repair, and maintenance of county roadways and may be included in off-hours on-call response service.

Responsibilities

• Asphalt Paving Operations
  • Shovel asphalt or gravel to patch potholes
  • Flag traffic at construction and maintenance projects
  • Maintain assigned equipment, vehicles and tools
  • Install and maintain traffic control devices
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
• Grading and Maintenance Operations
  • Flag traffic at construction and maintenance projects
  • Pick up trash from county rights-of-way
  • Operate tractors, bush hogs and weed eaters
  • Assist with the installation of concrete
  • Dig trenches, clean catch basins, manholes, and sewer lines
  • Clear debris from roadways
  • Operate a chain saw or bush ax to cut limbs, bushes, and brush
  • Drive pilot escort trucks
  • Load and unload gravel, dirt, and asphalt
  • Install and maintain traffic control devices
  • Maintain assigned equipment, vehicles and tools
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
• Mowing Operations
  • Operate mowing tractors, including boom mowers, side mowers, batwing mowers and bush hogs
  • Flag traffic
  • Operate chipper, chain saws and pole saws
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
• Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia
• Possession of GDOT approved traffic flagging certification within nine (9) months from the date of hire
• No experience requirements

Pay

Starting Salary – $39,374.53
