RNG Plant Controls Operator

Compensation range between $40 and $42 per hour.

About the role

We are seeking a Renewable Natural Gas Controls Operator with a strong focus on electrical controls to operate the Renewable Natural Gas plant. As one of three operators on site, you will provide technical and operational support to plant personnel, interact with the host landfill, regulatory agencies, and customers, and review plant operational efficiencies, controls/trend analysis, vendor procurement, media, and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a plant consisting of gas compression, gas processing, and filtration equipment, working with Landfill Gas (LFG) and pipeline-quality Renewable Natural Gas (RNG).
• Comply with all workplace, federal, state, and OSHA safety guidelines and obligations.
• Perform inspections and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including rotating gas compressors, H₂S gas scrubbers, CO₂ membranes, N₂ removal PSA, and auxiliary equipment such as pumps, chillers, and valves.
• Document and report equipment maintenance, operation, and condition.
• Perform fault-finding, repairs, and reporting of gas, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Operate instrumentation and process control systems.
• Perform periodic and scheduled on-call duties, including readings, tunings, pump operations, maintenance, and flaring operations.
• Interface with well field (LFG) operations and the local natural gas utility.

Requirements

• Current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
• Maintenance, gas, mechanical, or electrical experience and/or a suitable background.
• Basic computer operation, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to collect and interpret data and write clear, accurate reports and specifications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with gas or refrigeration equipment.
• Experience with LFG extraction and use systems and equipment.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and overhaul mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with the operation of instrumentation and process control equipment and systems.
• Ability to work autonomously in a multi-skilled work environment.
• Proficiency in using computers, instrumentation, metering, and/or monitoring equipment to measure, record, and make adjustments within operating parameters.
• Advanced electrical skills, including the ability to fault-find and carry out preventive maintenance on electrical equipment such as PLCs, generators, high voltage, and control systems.
• Advanced mechanical skills, including the ability to fault-find and carry out preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment such as compressors, pumps, and valving.
• Familiarity with PLCs, ladder logic, and troubleshooting and programming of these systems.

Pay

$40–$42 per hour.
