About the Role

Kettering Health is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) in Miamisburg to utilize the nursing process in providing care to patients across all settings in collaboration with other healthcare providers. The RN is accountable for professional development and practice within the scope defined by law, acting as a patient advocate for safe care delivery, delegation, and participation in performance improvement activities. The role reflects the missions, vision, values, and philosophies of Kettering Health Network.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care using the nursing process, with excellent assessment skills and independent judgment in developing patient care plans.
  • Report to the Clinical Nurse Supervisor of the Wound Center.
  • Hold self and others accountable for safety by following procedures and guidelines.
  • Respond to coaching and feedback to improve competencies and skill development.
  • Demonstrate appropriate judgment and thinking skills for clinical situations.
  • Attend or review a minimum of three Town Hall meetings (via HealthStream).
  • Provide wound care treatments as ordered and oversee the work of wound care technicians.
  • Utilize wound center resources efficiently.
  • Educate patients on chronic wound care, treatment, and diagnosis-related issues.
  • Use proper aseptic and/or sterile techniques where appropriate and instruct patients on infection control.
  • Assist patients in obtaining resources to support wound healing and insurance qualifications for care.
  • Collaborate with Home Care agencies, extended care facilities (ECFs), diagnostics, and physicians for continuity of care.
  • Exercise good judgment in applying and interpreting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current nursing competency in wound care, hyperbaric therapy (if applicable), infection control, bloodborne pathogens, and hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (NLN or CCNE) for new graduates. New graduates from non-accredited programs may be considered if they completed a clinical rotation at a network hospital.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Nurses returning to acute care after five or more years may need to provide evidence of a refresher course.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS, NRP, or PALS certifications as determined by unit scope of practice.
  • Wound Care Certification required within 4 years of hire (or within 4 years of notification for current employees).
  • Working knowledge of EMR/EPIC.
  • Above-average communication skills with the ability to establish rapport with patients and families.
