GENERAL SUMMARY
The Wound Care Specialist under the supervision of the Director of Nursing is responsible for all phases of the Wound Care Nursing Program. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the residents served.
EDUCATION
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required (LPN or RN).
- Certified Wound Care Specialist required or actively pursuing certification.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience in a geriatric setting preferred.
SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Clearance by PA State Police criminal history check.
- CPR Certification preferred.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB
- Determines appropriate preventative measures and nursing care for individual residents based on the nursing process and incorporates this into the plan of care.
- Maintains the Wound Care Nursing Program through the quality improvement process, including data entry and making recommendations as needed.
- Participates in wound care staffings and wound care management teams.
- Serves as nursing liaison with physicians for the Wound Care Nursing Program.
- Attends education seminars and professional meetings.
