Supervisory Functions
Oversee day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services staff, Charge Nurses, CNAs and CMAs and ensure their work is aligned in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
Ensure staff complies with the procedures and protocols set forth in the Nursing Services Procedures Manual.
Achieve the functions outlined in their respective job descriptions.
Make written and verbal reports/recommendations concerning the activities of your shift.
Cooperate with other resident services when coordinating Nursing Services to ensure the Resident’s total regimen of care is maintained.
Interpret Department’s Policies and Procedures to the staff, residents, visitors and government agencies.
Equipment
Maintain list(s) of equipment repairs or needs required for resident care.
Recommend to the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor the equipment and supply needs of your unit/shift.
Ensure that appropriate safety data sheets (SDSs) are on file for hazardous chemicals used in the Nursing Services department.
Participate in the development and implementation of the procedures for the safe operation of all Nursing Services equipment.
Qualifications
Education Required | Registered Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience Up to two years as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility.
Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
Be a supportive Team Member | Contribute to and be an example of Team work and concept.
Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
Able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds to a minimum height of five feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty feet.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
