RN Vascular Access/IV - MGH

36-hour day/evening/night rotation including weekends and holidays required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years placing IV's. Ultrasound guided IV experience preferred. VABC or CRNI certification or eligibility preferred.

About the Role

The IV Therapy team at MGH is a highly skilled group of nursing professionals who provide a key clinical service to our patients. Members of the healthcare team collaborate to achieve the universal goal of safe, effective, and appropriate infusion therapy and vascular access. Nurses perform independent nursing interventions related to infusion therapy and vascular access using appropriate clinical reasoning, nursing judgment, and critical decision-making skills. This team serves as the primary response for vascular access needs, including intraosseous insertions during rapid responses and codes. RNs are highly valued by the staff nurses they support and partner with.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
• Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
• Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
• Serve as the primary response team for vascular access needs, including intraosseous insertions during rapid responses and codes.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) state license required.
• 0-1 year of clinical nursing experience required.
• Minimum of two years placing IVs.
• Ultrasound guided IV experience preferred.
• VABC or CRNI certification or eligibility preferred.

Skills

• Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
• Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Pay

$41.72 - $105.65/hour.

Schedule

• 36 scheduled weekly hours.
