Job Description
The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) provides nursing care to patients, conducting systematic assessments, administering medications, planning care, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. This role requires competencies in nursing practice, leadership, and professional profile.
Essential Functions
- Conducts systematic, continuous, and comprehensive assessments of patient health status.
- Administers medications per licensure authority and documents administration accurately.
- Plans care using current scientific knowledge and incorporates data from the multi-disciplinary care team.
- Identifies and prioritizes patient problems, reflecting sensitivity to age, learning needs, and cultural background.
- Achieves safe, optimal patient and family centered care health outcomes by intervening and coordinating with the healthcare team.
- Teaches patients and families about their health care needs and evaluates the effectiveness of teaching.
- Serves as an advocate for the patient and family, ensuring their rights and preferences are respected.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to improve the quality of care in the clinical area.
Other Functions
- Demonstrates professional conduct and appearance.
- Orients new members of the healthcare team and supervises students.
- Maintains professional competency through continuing education and participation in evidence-based practice activities.
- Communicates constructively using core behavioral standards, resolves conflicts appropriately, and gives and receives peer review and feedback.
- Strives to perform duties in a cost-effective manner, avoiding waste without compromising quality of care.
- Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct, including HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
