RN Unit Manager
Millington Healthcare Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a management/leadership role in a skilled nursing facility setting. The RN Unit Manager supports the Director of Nursing with the delivery of efficient and effective nursing care while achieving positive clinical outcomes, and patient/family and employee satisfaction during a designated shift.
About the role
The RN Unit Manager serves as a clinical and operational liaison between units and the DON, ADON, medical director, and other nursing staff. He/she is responsible for the clinical operations of the Nursing Units including ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, practice standards and regulations. This is primarily a Monday-Friday position, but with rotating Manager on duty and/or On-Call.
Responsibilities
- Observe and monitor residents’ health and assess their needs to provide quality care
- Work with physicians to create individual care plans and assist them during required operations or procedures
- Maintain complete healthcare records and reports including PCC being utilized according to best practices
- Supervise, manage, and assist in training LPNs and GNAs on staff
- Perform routine procedures as needed, including administering medication and injections, and provide emergency medical care when necessary
- Collaborate with DON in maintaining adequate staffing coverage
- Assess work performance of nursing staff while on duty ensuring timeliness in services to our patients/residents
- Maintain security of the facility, creating an environment that is respectful, team-oriented, and responsive to the needs of our staff, patients, and their families
- Monitor nursing care to reduce hospitalizations and ensure positive outcomes
- Review prospective Admissions in relation to existing nursing capabilities and ensure readiness to treat
- Ensure that patient's attending physician and family or responsible party are promptly notified of any significant change in the patient's health condition
- Investigate patient/family complaints and take appropriate actions to bring to resolution
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of Tennessee
- BLS/CPR certification
- In-depth knowledge of nursing care methods and health and safety guidelines
- Responsible and compassionate with outstanding organizational and communication skills
- Experience supervising GNAs and LPNs in a nursing home setting
