RN Trauma Performance Improvement

About the Role

As our Trauma Performance Improvement RN, you will contribute significantly to our mission by leading proactive efforts to minimize traumatic injuries and support vulnerable patients. Your role elevates community safety and integrates with our overall trauma care strategy. You will oversee the comprehensive planning, development, and oversight of the Injury Prevention Program, act as the primary liaison to community groups, schools, government agencies, and regional coalitions, and ensure program alignment with ACS requirements.

You will develop and deliver targeted educational content, conduct community outreach, and analyze injury data to inform prevention strategies. Strong leadership, program management, and communication skills are vital for coordinating across diverse community and healthcare stakeholders. A deep commitment to public health, injury prevention, and patient safety is essential, along with the ability to meet ACS verification standards and manage complex community-based programs.

Responsibilities

• Plans, analyzes, coordinates, and facilitates trauma performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) initiatives in collaboration with VMFH leadership, management, and medical staff to ensure standards, objectives, timelines, and deliverables are met.
• Promotes and operationalizes the goals and objectives of VMFH Trauma PIPS to achieve its strategic vision; designs and executes targeted clinical performance improvement initiatives; implements and evaluates related standards, policies, procedures, training materials, and communications.
• Makes formal presentations to stakeholders and follows up to ensure recommended changes are implemented.
• Serves as the point-person for internal and external project communications; ensures project milestones, completion dates, costs, risks, and contingencies are communicated regularly to team members and stakeholders.
• Updates committees and groups on project status; develops written reports and newsletters, including outcome data, for management and staff.
• Identifies problematic issues relating to performance improvement projects, determines root causes, and advises higher-level authority; conveys corrective action plans and follows up to assess status.
• Ensures all clinical and related support activities are fully documented in accordance with VMFH standards and practices.
• Identifies performance improvement opportunities related to Washington State DOH/EMS Trauma Standards, TQIP, NTDS, and VMFH outcomes; analyzes clinical practices to improve healthcare delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related discipline.
• Five years of related work experience demonstrating requisite job knowledge, skills, and abilities, including experience in outcomes measurement, risk assessment, data analysis/reporting, and management of acute care clinical teams.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state, upon hire.

Pay

$54.76 - $90.35 per hour.
