RN - Surgical Team Lead - Perioperative - HPW - FT - Day
SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)
Plans, executes, and evaluates the total nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manger, Nurse Manager, and Director. Utilizes the nursing process to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Supervises non-professional personnel working directly with RN Team Leader to insure optimum patient care. Works under the direction of the leadership team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Capital Health (CH) and facility goals and strategic plans. Assumes the role of expert for specific assigned surgical service line, and is responsible for monitoring the surgical schedule for equipment and supply needs, preparing for daily case readiness, managing surgeon preference cards. Identifies service issues and communicates and educates appropriate staff.
Education
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Two years of progressive Perioperative management experience preferred.
- Three years OR clinical experience with previous exposure to all applicable surgical specialties.
Experience
- Performs patient care as necessary and assists in all emergency situations.
- Supervises the prompt and accurate implementation of physician’s orders/communications.
- Ensures that adverse reactions or changes in condition are reported to the surgeon.
- Collaborates with leadership to ensure that the department is on budget. Justifies any budget variances that may occur to the OR Manager and/or Director.
- Demonstrates cost-conscious attitude in requesting the purchase of departmental equipment and supplies.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Other Credentials
- AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Registered Nurse - NJ CPR.
- Requires ACLS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Critical Care/Intermediate/Telemetry, Emergency Rooms, Pediatrics/Pediatrics Emergency Room, Labor & Delivery, Surgical Services (not to include Perioperative), Interventional Procedures, Observation.
- Requires NRP (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Maternity Services.
- Requires PALS (or must obtain within 6 months of hire date) if assigned to: Emergency Rooms, Infant Follow-Up, Surgical Services (only PACU & Same Day Surgery), Pediatrics/Pediatric ED.

- Frequent physical demands include: Carry objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Taste or Smell.
- Occasional physical demands include: Sitting, Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders).
- Continuous physical demands include: Standing, Walking, Talk or Hear.
- Lifting Floor to Waist 25 lbs., Lifting Waist Level and Above 25 lbs.
