Located in Kailua, Adventist Health Castle has been a leading healthcare provider since 1963. The hospital is part of a larger network offering a range of services including a 160-bed hospital, medical offices, home care services, urgent cares, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and facilitates the patient while in the Operating Room (OR).
  • Captures and interprets patient data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as needed.
  • Mentors, develops, inspires, educates and leads staff members in patient care setting.
  • Participates in preoperative assessment and planning for selected surgical patients in collaboration with the healthcare team members in the preoperative location.
  • Functions as a first assistant during surgical incision, excision, and repair of pathology throughout the perioperative period on procedures for which privileges have been granted.
  • Handles and dissects tissues in collaboration with the surgeon.
  • Sutures muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin tissue in collaboration with the surgeon.
  • Places drains as surgically indicated.
  • Assists with cannulation and decannulation procedures, if indicated.
  • Assists with transferring the patient to and from the operating room, positioning, prepping and draping.
  • Provides patient with safe and aseptic environment by applying the principles of aseptic technique.
  • Takes corrective action to rectify breaks in aseptic technique.
  • Inspects sterile items before opening and maintains sterility of items during delivery to sterile field.
  • Obtains and interprets patient data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as needed.
  • Develops and implements action plan for practice changes to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Maintains appropriate traffic patterns and personnel around the sterile field.
  • Applies appropriate methods and parameters of sterilization/disinfection.
  • Prepares instruments according to physician preference and scheduled procedure.
  • Utilizes specific knowledge and skills in a surgical environment to assist the surgeon.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Documents relevant data, including but not limited to nursing diagnoses, patient's plan of care, intervention and response, and discharge plan.
  • Works regularly shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards.
  • Two years' perioperative nursing experience.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
  • Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) certification in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy.
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Status (PEARS)/Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy.
  • Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) membership.
  • Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards.

Benefits

  • Evening Shift Differential: $2/hour
  • Night Shift Differential: $6/hour
  • Weekend Shift Differential: $1/hour

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $65.75 to $90.19. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions. Schedule
