About the Role

This position is a leadership role in the provision of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The Registered Nurse (RN) effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members while assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes. The role emphasizes cultural sensitivity, professional responsibility, and alignment with the organization’s nursing philosophy and strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Effectively uses the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care.
• Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and interdisciplinary group needs.
• Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) while serving as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
• Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
• Embraces behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and professional improvement in nursing.
• Adapts behavior to specific patient populations, including privacy respect, communication style, and procedural explanations.
• Remains knowledgeable of current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory requirements applicable to the assigned area.
• Complies with the employer’s Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct, reporting any unethical or questionable behaviors.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Current RN License in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required for Critical Care & Emergency Department areas).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required for Pediatric & Emergency Department areas).
• Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (required for Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Women’s Services).
• Two years of relevant and recent nursing experience in assigned unit(s).
• Registered Nurse Diploma (required); Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred).
• Certification in a clinical specialty area (preferred).

• Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Proficiency with Windows-style applications, role-specific software, and keyboard use.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue in patient care areas.
• Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
