Responsibilities
- Assists the Director of Nursing in organizing and directing the day-to-day functions of licensed and unlicensed nursing staff (personnel and administrative).
- Admits, discharges, and transfers patients as requested.
- Handles documentation and billing for supplies used.
- Arranges patient transfers to the hospital as necessary.
- Follows procedures when unable to reach a physician.
- Develops work assignments for unlicensed staff.
- Conducts compliance rounds and reports pertinent issues.
- Maintains effective communication with attending physicians.
- Assists the Director of Nursing Services in coordinating the care planning/MDS process and committee meetings.
- Participates in patient screening and selection as requested.
- Monitors physician services (documentation and visits) in accordance with current regulations.
- Follows up on consultant recommendations (e.g., pharmacy, dietary).
- Provides education and demonstration for licensed and unlicensed staff.
- Completes documentation procedures on patients, including appropriate use of forms, timelines, and Medicare documentation.
- Communicates with physicians, arranges transportation for doctor appointments, and contacts families.
- Demonstrates fair and uniform supervisory skills, including administering corrective actions without bias.
- Provides reports and documentation to support departmental updates and corrective actions.
- Assists in interviewing, screening, and selecting associates in accordance with staffing budgets.
- Maintains personnel file documentation, including reference checks, screenings, evaluations, and skills verification.
- Reviews and responds to complaints/grievances concerning your department.
- Establishes effective inter-departmental communication for positive working relationships.
- Monitors licensed and unlicensed staff for compliance with procedural guidelines and protocols.
- Maintains knowledge of current licensure standards and the survey process.
- Monitors the work of nursing staff for thoroughness.
- Makes rounds to ensure proper care and cleanliness of patients.
- Coordinates patient care and assists nursing staff as needed.
- Implements Education, Infection Control, and/or Quality Assurance Programs.
- Promotes the organization’s image and reputation through servant leadership and open communication.
- Contributes to committees, workgroups, and collaborative efforts.
- Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the organization.
Requirements
- Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved RN program.
- Active RN License to practice in the State of Georgia.
Skills

- Ability to communicate warmly and professionally with associates, patients, family members, and visitors.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram format.
- Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides oversight and direction to unlicensed nursing personnel.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear.
- Frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stand.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay
