Overview
North Valley Behavioral Hospital, a new inpatient psychiatric hospital within the NeuroPsychiatric Hospitals network, is seeking a Nursing Supervisor (RN) to lead the nursing department.
Responsibilities
- Planner, organizer, and director of nursing functions on the unit
- Assess patient’s condition based on observation and/or interview, and physician’s diagnosis
- Prepare nursing care plans consistent with patient’s condition and physician’s treatment plans
- Direct non-professional personnel in implementing nursing care plans, and provide guidance as necessary
- Make nursing assignments based on employee’s skill level and patient needs
- Evaluate patient’s response to nursing care and modify or revise treatment plans as needed
- Administer medications and initiate/inhibit intravenous fluids according to hospital policy and procedures
- Understand pharmacology and recognize side effects of medications administered
- Perform lab draws and report findings to appropriate personnel
- Perform Point of Care testing as assigned and maintain competency for testing and quality control procedures
- Report lab results and document in patient chart
- Collect blood samples for laboratory testing according to lab procedures
- Perform both complex and routine treatments as prescribed by physicians or as warranted by patient’s condition
- Makes regular rounds of assigned patients independently and with physicians
- Observe and evaluate patient’s symptoms, progress, and reactions to treatments and medications
- Takes corrective actions as indicated
- Identify problems and guide personnel to their solutions
- Communicate with other hospital departments to resolve operational problems and make the most effective use of hospital resources
Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio
- One year of nursing experience required
- Prior experience in nursing education and/or psychiatric and acute care setting preferred, but not required
