Acadia Healthcare and Geisinger Health have partnered to establish a state-of-the-art, 96-bed behavioral health hospital in Danville, PA. Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Danville will serve pediatric and adult patients, offering inpatient treatment, intensive outpatient programming, and ECT services. It will also serve as a teaching hospital for students and residents of Geisinger’s College of Health Sciences. This facility will help meet the urgent need for accessible, high-quality psychiatric care in the region, expanding capacity to support patients with diverse mental health needs.
Schedule
- 3pm–11pm, 3 shifts of 8 hours per week
- Every other weekend: 7am–7pm
Responsibilities
- Anticipate and effectively manage changes in census and acuity; allocate nursing resources based on patient acuity and care needs
- Role model customer-service expectations and demonstrate urgency related to patient safety
- Enforce and interpret policies for the delivery of patient and resident care
- Ensure proper staffing for each unit, maintaining staff ratios, covering call-offs, and arranging vacation time
- Oversee chart checks, seclusion/restraint logs, nursing assessments, MARs, and report sheets to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Conduct rounds at the beginning of each shift and perform random audits
- Assist nursing leaders in orienting staff and verifying competence; provide coaching and mentoring as needed
- Ensure facility compliance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards
- Monitor and evaluate patient care processes and outcomes to ensure competent, compassionate, and safe care
- Coordinate all care rendered to patients, including physician orders and diagnostic information; ensure consultations are ordered
- Document medical, behavioral health, and nursing care
- Administer medications and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Assist in developing and updating patient plans of care with specific, measurable goals and interventions
- Prioritize tasks and delegate staff to ensure quality patient care
- Serve as shift leader for all admissions, discharges, and communication of changes in patient conditions to physicians
- Adjust staffing as needed and utilize administrator-on-call for situations requiring additional attention
- Provide direct care as needed
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Current registered nursing license in the state of facility required
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire)
- First aid may be required based on state or facility
- Greater than 1 year of experience as an RN strongly preferred; minimum 1 year required
- 1 year of experience in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred
- Some experience as a charge RN or other leadership position strongly preferred
