Requirements

  • Nursing diploma (associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing)
  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state, maintained in good standing throughout employment
  • One year of geriatric nursing experience preferred
  • Teaching/education experience preferred
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation; must remain current during employment

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service education in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards
  • Desire and ability to effectively train and educate all nursing associates and other applicable associates
  • Expert knowledge in field of practice with ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care facilities
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Perform proficiently in competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional working relationships with associates, vendors, and others
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Plan, develop, direct, conduct, evaluate, and coordinate staff training, education, in-service, and orientation
  • Maintain associate training and in-service records
  • Perform functions of a staff nurse as required
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate, use reasoning skills, and exercise good judgment
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team

Skills

  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
