Requirements
- Nursing diploma (associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing)
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state, maintained in good standing throughout employment
- One year of geriatric nursing experience preferred
- Teaching/education experience preferred
- CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation; must remain current during employment
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service education in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards
- Desire and ability to effectively train and educate all nursing associates and other applicable associates
- Expert knowledge in field of practice with ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care facilities
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Perform proficiently in competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintain professional working relationships with associates, vendors, and others
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
- Plan, develop, direct, conduct, evaluate, and coordinate staff training, education, in-service, and orientation
- Maintain associate training and in-service records
- Perform functions of a staff nurse as required
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
- Assist in the evacuation of patients
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate, use reasoning skills, and exercise good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
