RN Staff - 8 E Pulmonary Medicine Telemetry - Full Time 12 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union)

About the role

The Registered Nurse is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, utilizing the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. They are responsible for coordinating patient care and education, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills policies and procedures.
• Applies scientific knowledge practically in applying the Nursing Process.
• Completes Nursing Assessments upon patient admission and at each shift.
• Develops Plans of Care with individualized interventions and documents expected outcomes.
• Administers medication and IV therapy correctly, delegates tasks, acts as a patient advocate, manages restraint use, ensures MD orders, assessments, and monitoring, and completes the Restraint Audit Form.
• Documents on flow sheets and chart forms, educates patients and families, collaborates on discharge planning, ensures transfer paperwork, sends belongings with the patient, and uses appropriate patient care equipment.
• Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team, including patient and family, and maintains regulatory agency requirements.
• Manages time effectively, prioritizes responsibilities, takes meal breaks without overtime, and completes shifts on time.
• Maintains safe practice in the work environment and institutes safety precautions and skin care for patients with hepatic encephalopathy.
• Manages patients with THA, TKA, spinal surgery, and cystic fibrosis patients, performs advanced therapeutic modalities, and manages high acuity patients in ICUs/step-down/telemetry units.
• Accurately identifies patients for Core Measure criteria and completes documentation.
• Participates in professional development and research.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Less than 1 year of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Current knowledge of treatment practices and medical procedures.
• Knowledge of medical conditions and ability to perform apheresis procedures.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license from the CA Board of Registered Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association (required for certain departments).

Skills

Uses MICROMEDEX information, manages medications, maintains protective isolation precautions, and performs a variety of patient care procedures.
