About the role

The Registered Nurse works as part of an interdisciplinary team, utilizing the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. They are responsible for coordinating patient care and educating patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills policies and procedures.
• Applies scientific knowledge practically.
• Completes nursing assessments upon patient admission and at each shift.
• Develops and revises care plans based on patient outcomes.
• Administers medications and IV therapy correctly.
• Delegates tasks based on others' scopes of practice and competencies.
• Ensures patient safety, including managing restraints and following MD orders.
• Documents patient care accurately and regularly.
• Provides patient/family education and orientation.
• Collaborates on discharge planning and transfers.
• Utilizes and maintains appropriate patient care equipment.
• Communicates effectively with all healthcare team members.
• Manages time and prioritizes responsibilities.
• Maintains regulatory agency requirements and infection control procedures.
• Manages medical surgical patients, including THA, TKA, spinal surgery, and patients with cystic fibrosis, liver/kidney/pancreas transplants, and hepatic encephalopathy.
• Manages intensive care unit/s patients, including those with complex conditions like open heart, heart and lung transplants, and advanced therapeutic modalities.
• Manages stepdown/telemetry unit patients, including those who have had open heart, liver/kidney transplants, orthopedic, and neurological surgeries.
• Participates in quality measures and professional development activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Less than 1 year of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Current knowledge of treatment practices and medical procedures.
• Ability to understand, follow, and perform duties related to medical procedures.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
