About the role

The Registered Nurse is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for providing therapeutic care to patients. They are accountable for coordinating patient care and educating patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills policies and procedures.
  • Applies scientific knowledge practically in applying the Nursing Process.
  • Completes Nursing Assessments upon patient admission, at each shift, and with changes in condition.
  • Develops Plans of Care with individualized interventions and documents expected outcomes.
  • Administers medication and IV therapy accurately and completes patient care procedures correctly.
  • Delegates tasks based on others' scopes of practice and competencies.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and manages restraint use per policy.
  • Ensures MD orders, assessments, and monitoring are completed per policy.
  • Ensures the completion of the Restraint Audit Form each shift.
  • Provides patient/family education as needed, including room/unit orientation and educational flow sheets.
  • Collaborates with Case Managers and physicians regarding discharge planning and ensures all transfer paperwork is completed.
  • Ensures belongings are sent with the patient during transfers.
  • Utilizes patient care equipment appropriately and safely according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team, including patient and family.
  • Manages time effectively, organizes responsibilities, and takes meal breaks without incurring overtime.
  • Maintains regulatory agency requirements and follows safety protocols.
  • Manages patients with THA, TKA, spinal surgery, and those with cystic fibrosis, abdominal organ transplants, and advanced therapeutic modalities.
  • Accurately identifies patients fitting Core Measure criteria and completes documentation.
  • Participates in professional development and research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Less than 1 year of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current knowledge of treatment practices.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions.
  • Ability to collect whole blood and perform apheresis procedures.
  • Specialty certification required.
  • Registered Nurse - RN license from CA Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required for LA City only).

Qualifications

  • Less than 1 year of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Specialty certifications required.
  • Registered Nurse - RN license from CA Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required for LA City only).
