Summary
A Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering care within the scope of his/her training and expertise, collaborating with other disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes is met. This is done in conjunction with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Arkansas.
Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care to women and their infants before, during, and after birth.
- Assists the physician with all aspects of pregnancy and birth.
- Assists the surgeons during cesarean sections.
- Cares for women who experience complications with their pregnancies or birth processes.
- Affords meticulous attention to detail, focusing on the physical, psychological, educational/health literacy, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of the patient and family.
- Knowledgeable on all aspects of pregnancy, labor, and birth, as well as post-pregnancy care, complications, and treatments.
Requirements
- New RN graduate from an accredited nursing program or Registered Nurse in good standing, and licensed to practice in the state of Arkansas.
- B.S.N. preferred.
- Applies basic knowledge and skills to meet standard of care.
- Practices as a full partner of an interdisciplinary team.
- Healthcare CPR required, some areas may require ACLS, PALS, and/or NALS - training is provided.
- Specialty units require and will provide specific specialty education.
