About the Role
Provides direct patient care in an area designated as a specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual and/or psychosocial support needs.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
- Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
- Evaluates learning needs of the patient and/or family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Requirements
- Accredited Program: Nursing (Required)
- ACLS and/or BLS certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross (specific e-card or non-e-card formats accepted, including grace periods for essential credentials)
- Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) or Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
- One (1) year of nursing experience required
- Department-specific credentials:
- ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate required for RNs administering chemotherapy
- APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card required within 12 months of hire for RNs administering chemotherapy for oncologic indication within the pediatric setting
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op, and Specialty Procedural areas
- PALS required for Pediatric areas (except NICU); RNs from non-pediatric backgrounds have 30 days from hire to obtain PALS
- NRP certification required for NICU; RNs from non-NICU backgrounds have 30 days from hire to obtain NRP
- Certification in Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced) through National Credential Center or AWOHNN required for L&D RNs prior to completion of job orientation
- RN Fellowship Program requires one (1) year of RN independent practice (not inclusive of nurse orientation) and ACLS/BLS certifications; newly licensed RNs have six (6) months to obtain ACLS and/or PALS
