Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the C.V. Laboratory is responsible for delivering nursing care to the Patient, administering medications, observing for complications, and assisting the Physician during procedures.

  • Utilizes the new CERNER platform for accurate charting.
  • Checks email for corporate and department communications.
  • Complies with National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Implements an age-appropriate plan of care.
  • Attends required educational programs and KNOW modules.
  • Documents medication administration with 100% accuracy.
  • Ensures IV site patency.
  • Completes nursing chart forms accurately.
  • Monitors patient closely for complications.
  • Supervises patient care pre- and post-procedure.
  • Communicates with patient's family.
  • Provides continuity of care post-procedure.
  • Operates equipment accurately during procedures.
  • Maintains stock supplies and charges for items used.
  • Maintains professional demeanor.
  • Participates in call schedule.
  • Assists in delivering high-quality health care services.

Essential Functions

  • Uses IV book to reference unfamiliar drugs.
  • Checks narcotics wastage.
  • Anticipates and assesses patient needs.
  • Notifies physician and implements patient care.
  • Supervises care post-procedure.
  • Provides nursing care post-catheterization.
  • Completes log book accurately.
  • Maintains professional demeanor during procedures.
  • Performs duties in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Participates in call schedule.
  • Assists in training students and new employees.
  • Removes sheaths and maintains hemostasis.

Job Requirements

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Kentucky.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Minimum of two years of Cardiovascular Laboratory experience or two years of critical care experience.
