About the Role

Pre-op and post-op care for cardiovascular procedural patients going to the Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology lab, and CV Operating Room. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for RNs and 1:7 for Patient Care Technicians (PCTs). While this is not a PCU or ICU level of care, nurses must understand the cardiovascular patient population and function at a higher level of knowledge than typical Day Surgery nurses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments using good judgment and clinical reasoning, following practice standards.
• Identify patient and family needs, then develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans, making adjustments as needed.
• Create safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
• Manage emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering.
• Use expertise to help patients navigate the healthcare system safely, reducing complications.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in health conditions promptly and efficiently.

Requirements

• A degree from a recognized nursing program or two years of relevant work experience.
• Preferred minimum of 2 years RN experience; must have cardiovascular care experience.
• A valid Registered Nurse license.
• Ability to obtain Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment.
