Requirements
- RN (Registered Nurse) License
- Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing
- 1-year RN experience in an Acute Care setting
- BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- ACLS certification with the American Heart Association
- Preferred experience: PCU experience
Responsibilities
- Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of PCU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
- Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
- Cares for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
- Monitors, records, and updates care team on patient vitals and assessments
- Identifies sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
- Responds to medical emergencies for critical patients
- Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
- Demonstrates high emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts for the patient
- Maintains professional accountability and development
