Geisinger is proud to offer a part-time Inpatient RN position with a $40.55 minimum hiring rate, increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the standards of care established by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel.
  • Provide direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
  • Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
  • Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care as established in unit standards, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based upon patient response to interventions.
  • Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
  • Make assignments in collaboration with other team members and direct/alter assignments in response to changes in patient situations.
  • Promote teamwork by delegating tasks to team members based on skill, expertise, time availability, acuity, and needs of the patient.
  • Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
  • Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
  • Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization, and be accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
  • Support and participate in initiatives that align with the Magnet mission.
  • Actively participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required).
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) certification.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Obstetrics experience preferred.
  • Willingness to cross-train to the Childbirth unit (training will be provided).

Schedule

  • Hours: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM.
  • Every other weekend and holiday.
  • Call may be required.

This unit entails postpartum, GYN, Peds/Trauma, and continuing care nursery.
