RN - Registered Nurse / Part-Time, Rotating Evening & Night Shifts

About the role

The Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to provide care for residents by assessing needs, assisting and encouraging their social and emotional well-being, and implementing orders and routines. This position involves reporting and interpreting observations and resident behaviors, communicating nursing and health care concerns to supervisors, maintaining resident charts and records, and coordinating nursing unit activities to maintain consistency in resident care delivery and unit functions. The role also requires following health and safety rules to ensure security.

Schedule

• Rotating evening and night shifts
• Evening shift: 3:00pm to 11:30pm
• Night shift: 11:00pm to 7:30am
• At least 48 hours per two-week pay period, with potential for additional hours based on business needs
• Weekends as assigned
• Part-time, unlimited regular status

Pay

• $40.59 - $60.06 per hour
• PLUS $2.75 per hour shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00pm and 6:00am
• May be eligible for a new hire bonus of $6,000 for part-time MNA-represented positions

Minimum qualifications

• Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing (or able to obtain licensure by date of hire)
• Future RNs within six months of graduating and taking the NCLEX-RN are encouraged to apply; contingent offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and passing NCLEX-RN
• Current BLS or CPR certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to be certified by date of hire
• Effective communication sufficient to provide and follow instructions and teach skills to residents
• Computer skills sufficient to complete electronic charting, specifically in PointClickCare

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or other senior healthcare environment
• Experience working with Veteran population
• Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make or recommend changes, and provide mentoring
• Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care and the ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities
• Effective interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships
• Experience with minimum data set (MDS) assessments
