RN Registered Nurse (NIGHT SHIFT)

About the role

Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager, this position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for assigned patients. Manages charge responsibility of the nursing unit and assumes responsibility for the delivery of care to all residents on the unit, practicing evidence-based nursing.

Responsibilities

• Assumes professional responsibility and accountability for a group of residents/patients, including medication and treatment administration, teaching, and supervision of all nursing staff to ensure implementation of the interdisciplinary care plan.
• Performs ongoing and systematic assessments utilizing the nursing process to establish a comprehensive, goal-directed interdisciplinary plan.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with residents/patients, families, colleagues, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure treatment meets age, needs, and abilities of residents/patients and unit needs.
• Documents accurate, pertinent, and comprehensive information in a timely and concise manner as required by regulation and facility policy.
• Supervises the care provided by CNAs and LPNs, ensuring adherence to the plan of care, resident profile, policies, and procedures.
• Participates in educational programs, in-services, meetings, and workshops, utilizing current literature to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
• Attends all annual mandatory programs and participates in quality improvement activities as directed.
• Follows standards of the Diligent Minimal Lift Program.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree/Diploma Program, graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• 1-2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Current RN license in the State of Connecticut.

Skills

• Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English to communicate with patients, residents, and clinical staff.
• Effective interaction with residents and staff.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to utilize a personal computer/CRT to input and retrieve patient information.
• Familiarity with Care Plan Development.
• Demonstrates behaviors and principles of person-centered care, including affording people dignity, respect, and compassion, and offering coordinated, personalized care.

Schedule

Overnight shift, 24 hours per week, every other weekend (EOW).
