About the role
The Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at Mount Carmel East has 16 beds. The Registered Nurse (RN) will care for the highest-acuity neuro patients in the health system. Mount Carmel East is the only comprehensive stroke center in the Mount Carmel system.
The RN, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, provides care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The RN collaborates in the spirit of teamwork and is accountable for delivering patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
- Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence-based practice.
- Collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual, and educational components.
- Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner; keeps patient/family apprised and updated.
- Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions, and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
- For Casual RNs: 2 years of experience is required.
- All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience are subject to participate and will be automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program.
