RN - Registered Nurse / Intermittent-PRN

About the role

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs seeks an RN to deliver care within the RN scope of practice, as defined in the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and in accordance with current federal, state, and Veterans Administration regulations. The role involves assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver quality resident-centered care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents.

Responsibilities

• Deliver care within the RN scope of practice, as defined in the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and in accordance with current federal, state, and Veterans Administration regulations.
• Provide assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver quality resident-centered care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the residents.
• Work within the established shift schedule, which includes Day shift 6:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m., Evening shift 2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m., and Night shift 10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
• May work weekends as needed.

Requirements

• Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, or ability to be certified by date of hire.
• Effective communication sufficient to provide and follow instructions and teach skills to residents.
• Computer skills sufficient to complete electronic charting, specifically in PointClickCare.

Qualifications

• Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or other senior healthcare environment.
• Experience working with Veteran population.
• Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make or recommend changes, and provide mentoring.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care and the ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.
• Effective interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
• Experience with minimum data set (MDS) assessments.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in electronic charting systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of Veteran-specific care protocols.

Pay

$40.59 - $60.06 / hourly PLUS $2.75 per hour shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00pm and 6:00am.
