RN - Registered Nurse - ICU
Geisinger is proud to offer a full-time Inpatient RN position with up to a $23,500 hiring incentive for eligible candidates. The minimum hiring rate is $40.55, with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the standards of care established by the State Board of Nursing.
- Direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel.
- Provide direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
- Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
- Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care as established in unit standards, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based upon patient response to interventions.
- Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
- Make assignments in collaboration with other team members and alter assignments in response to changes in patient situations.
- Promote teamwork by delegating tasks to team members based on skill, expertise, time availability, acuity, and needs of the patient.
- Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
- Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
- Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and be accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
- Support and participate in initiatives that align with the Magnet mission.
- Actively participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Requirements
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required).
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA).
- ICU experience preferred.

Schedule
7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, every other weekend and holiday.
About the Role
This position is in an 18-bed blended ICU unit that handles Critical Care Medical/Surgical, Level 2 Trauma, Cardiothoracic/Open Heart Surgery. The unit has 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, CCM Provider, and Pharmacy support. The unit has twice been awarded the AACN Silver Beacon Award Designation.
