Schedule

A typical schedule is 40 hours weekly, with 8 or 10-hour shifts on days.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet patient needs.
  • Promotes adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of care, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Coordinates patient care and staff interactions to optimize the patient and family experience.
  • Completes assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout care.
  • Formulates, coordinates, and provides a plan of care, including patient and family education, with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provides direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies per policy.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork.
  • Accesses implanted venous access devices for labs and infusions.
  • Inserts, monitors, regulates, and discontinues IVs as required by the provider.
  • Administers and disposes of chemotherapy following regulatory guidelines and documents administration.
  • Administers and follows related research protocols.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises the plan of care based on patient response.
  • Initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other team members to resolve and facilitate patient needs.
  • Problem-solves, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in equipment care and handling.
  • Participates in unit-based decision-making regarding evidence-based practice utilization.
  • Actively contributes as a team member toward unit and organizational goals, accountable for specific metrics.
  • Participates in patient quality and safety education programs and related activities.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of RN work experience is required.
  • Previous Hematology/Oncology experience is preferred.
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required).
  • Basic Life Support Certification (Required).
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) – RN_State of Pennsylvania (Required).
