RN - Registered Nurse - Hematology/Oncology

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet patient needs.
• Promotes adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
• Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.
• Coordinates patient care and staff interactions.
• Completes assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
• Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
• Formulates, coordinates, and provides a plan of care, including patient and family education, with members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Provides direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork.
• Accesses implanted venous access devices for labs and infusions.
• Inserts, monitors, regulates, and discontinues IVs as required by the provider.
• Administers and disposes of chemotherapy following regulatory guidelines.
• Documents administration of chemotherapy.
• Administers and follows related research protocols.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises the plan of care based on patient response.
• Initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to resolve and facilitate patient needs.
• Problem-solves, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
• Participates in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
• Actively participates as a team member working toward team goals and is accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
• Participates in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.

Requirements

• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required).
• Minimum of 2 years of RN work experience (Preferred).
• Previous Hematology/Oncology experience is strongly preferred.
• Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania.
• Basic Life Support Certification.

Schedule

This role is full-time, 40 hours weekly. Shifts will fall between 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, and 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM.
