RN - Registered Nurse - Electrophysiology Lab - Heart and Vascular Center - Multiple Shifts

About the role

The Heart & Vascular Center (HVC) at UAB Medicine is a 48-bed unit designed to streamline preop and recovery care for cardiac, neuro interventional, and interventional radiology patients. Staff in this unit conduct assessments and procedures that could include cardioversions, ablations, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), angioplasty, nephrostomy, biliary drains, thrombectomy, and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide and monitor moderate sedation care and/or counsel individuals in the heart and vascular procedure setting.
• Identify patient needs before, during, and after procedure using the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Synergy Model.
• Delegate, coordinate, and manage all aspects of nursing care provided to the patient in the heart and vascular procedure setting, their family, and the community in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Deliver patient care in collaboration with the patient, their family, and all members of the healthcare team, with the knowledge of a licensed physician, psychologist, podiatrist, or dentist.

Requirements

• Graduate of a school of Nursing program approved and accredited by the Alabama State Board of Nursing and one (1) year of critical care nursing experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required depending on the unit/department.

Qualifications

• Experience in delegating, coordinating, and managing nursing care in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Collaborative communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

$37.25 - $55.25 / hour
